55 students begin their final year of study with a scholarship from the Wübben Stiftung Wissenschaft

This fall, 55 outstanding students are starting their final year of study – supported by a scholarship from the Wübben Stiftung Wissenschaft. They were nominated by representatives of their universities’ Clusters of Excellence. What unites them is a strong interest in the central research questions of their field. Each student will receive a monthly scholarship of €1,000 for one year.

The new scholarship holders come from twelve countries: two-thirds from Germany, and others from Egypt, Azerbaijan, Belgium, China, India, Italy, Canada, Mexico, Spain, Tunisia, and the USA. More than half of them are women.

Diversity of disciplines
The programs of study reflect the breadth of current cutting-edge research. Scholarships are awarded for traditional STEM fields as well as specialized programs in computer science, such as machine learning or simulation technology. Biomedical programs focusing on data science, aging research, or neuroscience are also supported, alongside students from the social sciences and economics.

“Our scholarship holders are close to graduation – and many of them to a career in research. With our support, we create the freedom to develop bold ideas and take the next step into the world of science,” says Peter-André Alt, Managing Director of the Wübben Stiftung Wissenschaft.

Long-term commitment
Since the beginning of the program, the Wübben Stiftung Wissenschaft has awarded a total of 139 scholarships. The goal is to support young researchers during the crucial final phase of their studies, enabling them to fully concentrate on their academic projects and further pursue their interest in the central research questions of their discipline.
